Yesterday, Democrat Governor Newsom announced a “hard close” of all beaches in Orange County.
“We can’t see images like we saw, particularly on Saturday, in Newport Beach and elsewhere.” Newsom said on Thursday “the conditions last week, the images we saw at a few of our beaches were disturbing.”
Newport Beach and Huntington Beach hit back and challenged Newsom’s unconstitutional order ahead of another heatwave that is expected to hit Southern California next week.
Thousands of protesters took to the streets in Huntington Beach, CA to send their authoritarian Democrat governor a strong message.

Mayor Will O’Neill of Newport Beach, CA ripped into CA Governor Gavin Newsom for locking down beaches while releasing 7 high-level sex offenders from prison.
While this happens, we receive a directive to criminalize surfers and families digging in the sand. This is sick. https://t.co/thgdVUDjsm pic.twitter.com/HQBbwHRace

Mayor Will O’Neill was highly critical of Governor Newsom’s order to shut down their beaches from 428 miles away in Sacramento.
Without speaking to a single local official in Newport Beach, Governor Newsom has put politics over data, and substituted his will for our judgment from 428 miles away in Sacramento. Los Angeles County closed their beaches over a month ago and data now shows (1/3) pic.twitter.com/3uvKb6KdAL
