“If I have to move there to run against him in four and a half years, I will”

(TNS) Fox News host Laura Ingraham blasted Sen. Mitt Romney Wednesday evening during her program following his vote to convict President Donald Trump on two articles of impeachment, calling on the Utah Republican to resign.
“Utah’s junior senator reminded us of why he couldn’t connect with most regular, working-class people,” Ingraham said in the opening monologue of her primetime show. “They don’t like politicians who claim to be holier than thou when they’re really just sticking a shiv in your back.”
“He’s the ultimate selfish, preening, self-centered politician,” she added, as reported by The Hill.
Before voting with every Democrat to convict the president, Romney told reporters, “The president is guilty of an appalling abuse of public trust. What the president did was wrong, grievously wrong.”
But Republicans who voted not to hear from any new witnesses in the Senate’s impeachment trial said nothing the Democrat House managers presented in terms of a case came close to impeachable offenses, regarding President Trump’s temporary hold on military aid for Ukraine.
And while the president did suggest that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky look into allegations of corruption involving Joe and Hunter Biden, as well as Democratic Party operatives’ 2016 election meddling on behalf of Hillary Clinton, he never demanded a probe. And the military aid was delivered.
“If he were up for reelection this year, the people of Utah would have their own payback against him because they were defrauded by Romney,” Ingraham continued.
“For when he had to choose, he chose [Senate Minority Leader Charles] Schumer (D-N.Y.) and [Sen.] Kamala [Harris] (D-Calif.) over common sense and conservatism,” Ingraham continued.
“If you’re one of Romney’s constituents in Utah, you’re out of luck. If you’re a business in need of a regulation reexamined, don’t bother calling his office. He has no power anymore,” she said.
Ingraham also brought up Romney’s failed 2012 bid to unseat incumbent President Barack Obama, his second attempt at winning the presidency.
“We thought you’d be better for America and the way you repay millions of people, the millions who did vote for you in 2012 is to throw in with the very people who don’t share our goals, who hate us. And by the way, who still hate you,” Ingraham said.
“Mitt, you made your stand. Now should you should resign,” she later continued. “You committed a fraud on the people of Utah, on the Republican Party, on the Constitution, and a thoroughly embarrassed yourself. If I have to move there to run against him in four and a half years, I will.”

Donald Trump Jr. also ripped into Romney for his decision to vote with Democrats.
“Mitt Romney is forever bitter that he will never be POTUS. He was too weak to beat the Democrats then so he’s joining them now,” he wrote in a Wednesday tweet to his 4.3 million followers. “He’s now officially a member of the resistance & should be expelled from the @GOP,” he wrote on Twitter.
