Up front: COVID-19 is a real virus. Got it.
How it came to be and who is most responsible (cough, cough, China) isn’t up for debate, either.
What is also not debatable is the despicably bad recommendations we’ve been getting from the people in power who are supposed to be experts in pandemics.
Like Dr. Anthony Fauci.
This guy has been all over the map when it comes to making recommendations about how we’re supposed to act and what we’re supposed to do to ‘mitigate the risk’ of the virus.
He has moved the goal posts so many times now we’ve lost count.
And people are noticing — and are demanding answers from him.
People like Fox News host Tucker Carlson.
‘Why do people who take it — and by the way, why do people who have been previously infected and show high levels of antibodies — have to live under the restrictions that the vaccines were supposed to eliminate?’ Carlson asked during a segment of his Wednesday program. ‘Why, for example, does Tony Fauci say you have to wear a mask after you get the vaccine?’
‘We’re wondering — is Fauci telling Americans who’ve been vaccinated or who’ve recovered from the coronavirus itself, that they aren’t protected against future infections? Is that why he’s saying they can’t eat in restaurants or go to bars? These are not trick questions, they’re the most basic of all questions,’ Carlson continued, adding that he’d love it if Fauci would come on to “explain them.”
He went on to play a clip of Fauci doing a CNN interview earlier in the day where he didn’t address Carlson’s very smart, very on-target questions but rather, he wrote them off as a “crazy conspiracy theory.”
‘That’s just a typical, crazy conspiracy theory,’ Fauci said when asked to respond to what Carlson was saying, though obviously CNN did not adequately report what Carlson was saying. ‘Why would we not tell people if it doesn’t work? Look at the data. The data are overwhelming … so I don’t have any idea what he’s talking about.’
‘How dangerous is it for a TV personality like that, who does have an audience of millions, to speculate?’ the host asked.
‘Well, it’s certainly not helpful to the public health of this nation or even globally,’ Fauci said.
‘Wait a second — who’s doubting that vaccines work? For the record, we never for a minute doubted it,’ Carlson said, going on to explain that Fauci and others, including President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris — all of whom have been vaccinated — continuing to socially distance and wear masks, even when they’re outside and far away from other people.
‘You see the guy in charge…telling us, ‘after you’ve had the vaccine, you must remain under the restrictions,’’ he went on. ‘So we’re asking a question that is rooted in science, which is, ‘why?’ If this stuff works, why can’t you live like it works? What are you really telling us here?’
‘And by the way, this, again, is not a trick question. We are not playing word games here, what is the answer? If the coronavirus vaccine prevents you from catching the coronavirus, why are you wearing a mask? Why can’t you eat in a restaurant?’ Carlson wanted to know.
‘And if it doesn’t prevent you from catching the coronavirus, why are we taking it in the first place? Both can’t be true. So that’s the question. It’s not a conspiracy theory,’ he continued.
These are all very legitimate questions and Fauci is refusing to answer them — which leaves the very distinct impression that he’s just another deep state authoritarian.
