Opinion| Faced With A Global Pandemic President Trump Takes Unprecedented Steps To Restructure The United States’ Response System To Address Future Biological Attacks

OPINION| Lawrence David| As America struggles to get a handle on the spread of the Chinese Coronavirus it might appear to many people that President Trump’s administration’s “all in” response means this pandemic is unlike any we’ve ever experienced. It isn’t.

Like everything else we’ve come to expect from government, previous presidents simply kicked the can down the road while they rode out prior viral and flu epidemics.

President Trump, unlike his predecessors, is a builder… a builder of things that last. And, that has been fueling his efforts to develop long term strategies that can be used to limit future suffering and fatalities as new biological threats come along.

Unlike his “kick the can down the road” predecessors, Trump is designing a platform that will be the model for fighting future biological pathogens. That significance of this should not be minimized.

Donald Trump foresaw the problems with being dependent on China for our country’s critical infrastructure needs and set about uncoupling those supply chains and rebuilding our independence, and with it, increasing our country’s national security.

Likewise, President Trump addressed future national security considerations by authorizing the Space Force.

Today, he has brought together a public-private coalition to combat what amounts to biological warfare which is almost certain to be one of the ways our national security will be threatened by future enemies… if that’s not what COVID-19 is, now.

As president, Trump is coordinating an “all-in America” response assembling the brightest minds from science and industry to work together to anticipate the changing events before they occur and then defining solutions.

President Trump is also ordering the federal government to remove the red tape that makes the rapid response to crisis situations impossible.

Trump’s assembly of the greatest minds in science and industry is today’s Manhattan Project. This only makes him a great president in comparison to his do-nothing predecessors who were polished politicians but who sold us into becoming an agricultural colony of China.

Nothing can stop a new virus in its tracks but the president has assembled a team of experts that are doing everything possible to limit the spread of infection and the deaths that follow.

Joel Pollack, writing for Breitbart, put together a timeline that shows just how quickly President Trump responded to this threat… a threat that China kept hidden for two months while it incubated.

(Breitbart) For twenty days, from the day the first death from coronavirus was known, Democrats did nothing about it. They were too busy with the president’s impeachment trial — a trial Pelosi had delayed unnecessarily for several weeks.

To the extent that they commented on coronavirus at all, it was only to tear up the president’s remarks or to call him a racist. They told the nation that he, not coronavirus, was a threat to the national security of the United States.

In the midst of that all-consuming trial, it is remarkable Trump was able to do anything else at all. But he did, and one of the things he did was impose the China travel ban, just one day after the World Health Organization declared coronavirus a global health emergency, and the day before the first victim of the pandemic died outside China.

For his trouble, he was criticized by the World Health Organization and called “hysterical” by his future 2020 rival.

This was Democrat presumptive presidential nominee Joe Biden’s response to President Trump’s travel ban…

[…] “We have, right now, a crisis with the coronavirus,” Biden said in Iowa Friday. “This is no time for Donald Trump’s record of hysteria and xenophobia – hysterical xenophobia – and fear-mongering to lead the way instead of science.”

The travel ban is now being credited with buying critical time for the Coronavirus Task Force to develop a comprehensive plan to limit the amplitude of spread of the infection, yet President Trump was excoriated by open-border Democrats for it.

The question facing Americans isn’t whether President Trump is up to the task of running and improving every aspect of the federal government, the question is why are Democrats continuing to shill for China?

“There are trillions of dollars at stake”
