KANSAS CITY, Mo. — With more confirmed COVID-19 cases expected in the area, Kansas City, Missouri, Mayor Quinton Lucas said Monday his stay-at-home emergency order could last longer than the initial 30 days.
Lucas also warned businesses that the city is receiving complaints about businesses not complying with his order to shut down.
“They’re only letting two or three people in, so why is the city worried about it?” a customer said outside Star Beauty, 4704 Virginia Avenue. KSHB Local News
I am sure we all know of a business or two that refuses to shut their doors out of greed and it is baffling how states and counties allow them to get away with it. These greedy fools are absolutely to blame for aiding in the spread of the virus and people need to demand that these greedy stores get served with vicious fines and forced to close. If they still refuse, then shut off their utilities and hit them with daily fines until they comply with the orders.
Federal guidelines give state and local authorities leeway in what they consider essential businesses during an emergency. But in general, those industries identified as essential include grocery stores and food production, pharmacies, health care, utilities, shipping, banking other governmental services, law enforcement and emergency personnel. Now the fools in St. Louis are demanding that the beauty salons stay open:
“You see my hair, it needs to be done. So this the only store that open and, god, I appreciate them because no one else is open. So why is it the city’s business that they’re open? So I’m glad they’re open,”
But under the stay-at-home order that went into effect March 24, beauty supplies stores like Star Beauty are not essential businesses. However, a KCMO Health Department representative told 41 Action News on Tuesday that after speaking with Lucas and his staff, it was determined that the store is operating as an essential business.
These cowards in office are allowing these nonessential companies to stay open and it directly aids in spreading the virus. People should be furious and calling their city, county and state offices demanding the immediate closure of these greedy businesses.
