Once again, most Americans side with the president on immigration

(TNS) When Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez isn’t whining and moaning about illegal aliens while anguishing into an empty parking lot, most Americans are coming around to President Donald Trump’s way of thinking on the subject, if they weren’t there already.
“A recent Rasmussen poll revealed that the majority of likely swing voters wish to see an end to chain migration, which is a process by which newly naturalized citizens can bring as many foreign family members into the United States as they wish,” Red State reported.
According to the survey, about 62 percent of voters in swing states are in favor of ending chain migration, compared to less than one-third (30 percent) who said they favor keeping the program in place.
Indeed, the results were pretty much the same along racial lines; a majority of white, black, and Hispanic Americans said they don’t favor continuing the program.
By contrast, every one of the 2020 Democratic presidential contenders favors keeping the program in place. As usual, they accuse Trump of being a bigot for wanting to end it, but apparently, if that’s true, then a majority of swing voters who are white, black, and Hispanic are also bigots.
As Red State points out, when Rasmussen surveyed Democrat voters, there wasn’t overwhelming support for the program, either. Democrat swing voters support and don’t support the measure equally – 46 percent.
“This poll shows us something most already know: The Democrats are woefully out of touch with the average American when it comes to immigration,” the site noted.
“It is not the first study to reveal similar results. Nevertheless, the progressives continue to push for lax immigration policies that adversely affect citizens. In fact, both legal and illegal immigration disproportionately harm the black community,” Red State continued. “Like many far-left policies, liberal immigration policies cause devastation to the ones they claim to protect.”
When Donald Trump descended the escalator at Trump Tower in June 2015 to declare his candidacy for the GOP nomination, some of his first comments were about dealing with illegal immigration.
Many on the Left and Right laughed, pronounced his campaign dead on arrival, and went on about their day. The longer he’s in office, the more obvious it becomes that he knows this country a lot better than almost any other politician in D.C. (and certainly better than the “mainstream media”).
