We’re not sure if the attorney general of Michigan is aware of this or not, but her legal authorities, while significant in her own state, do not extend to the Oval Office.
So we’re not certain why she would threaten to ban the president of the United States from entering for any reason.
Nevertheless, Michigan AG Dana Nessel told CNN on Thursday that if President Donald Trump doesn’t wear a mask during his trip to a Ford Motor Co. plant in Ypsilanti Thursday, she’s going to ask him not to come back until he can follow coronavirus mitigation rules.
The Daily Caller reported:
Nessel wrote a letter to the White House with her request. Anyone who has been “recently exposed, including the President of the United States, has not only a legal, but also a social and moral responsibility, to take reasonable precautions to prevent further spread of the virus,” she wrote, referring to one of the president’s personal valet drivers who tested positive for coronavirus earlier this month.
“Obviously here in Michigan we have been particularly hard hit by the COVID-19 crisis,” Nessel told CNN. “Our auto manufacturing facilities just went back online on Monday, but there was a carefully negotiated agreement that became law” between automakers and the International Union, United Automobile, Aerospace and Agricultural Implement Workers of America (UAW), she added.

“There are a number of requirements in place,” including one which doesn’t allow outside visits to the plant, which they are waiving,” the attorney general said.
There are additional guidelines, of course, to include social distancing, screening requirements, and mask requirements she says were put in place for people “in order to protect themselves and in order to protect the workers.”
“We are just asking that President Trump comply with the law of our state.”
Meanwhile, Nessel seems to have no problems at all with the many Democrat-run cities in her state that openly defy federal immigration laws with their sanctuary policies for illegal aliens.
Nessel then said that anyone who doesn’t comply with the authoritarian Gov. Gretchen Whitmer’s orders could find themselves in legal jeopardy, though Trump “doesn’t have the same level of legal accountability as everybody else.”
And neither does she, by the way, as most state officials are still free to pretty much do whatever they want while they keep their residents locked down.
Then Nessel issued a threat to anyone who ‘aids and abets’ this maskless president.
“If he fails to wear a mask, he’s going to be asked not to return to any enclosed facilities inside our state,” Nessel told CNN. “If we know he is coming to our state, and we know he’s not going to follow the law, I think we’re going to have to take action against any company or any facility that allows him inside those facilities.”
That’s straight-up tyranny.
“We are asking that if President Trump doesn’t care about his own health, doesn’t care about the health and safety of the people who work in those facilities,” she said, “at least care about the economic situation” that results from the plants having to shut down — which, again, would be at Whitmer’s discretion, not Trump’s.
And by the way, perhaps Nessel has forgotten that the president is tested for coronavirus daily and recently announced that he’s been prophylactically taking anti-malarial drug hydroxychloroquine — which is believed to be an effective treatment for the virus in some studies.
So much for that part about the president ‘not caring about his own health.’
What a stupid, brazenly partisan thing to say. Can you ever imagine, in your wildest dreams, that a governor or a state AG would have ever threatened Barack Obama in this way?
Neither can we.
