South Korea’s intelligence agency believes that Kim Yo Jong, the sister of North Korean leader Kim Jong Un, is serving as his “de facto second-in-command” but has not necessarily been designated take over as the successor of North Korea.
She is now responsible for the isolated nation’s relations with the United States and South Korea, according to an intelligence report cited by the legislator. Believed to be in her early 30s, Kim Yo Jong is the leader’s only close relative with a public role in politics, recently spearheading a new, tougher campaign to put pressure on South Korea.
This is not the first time reports have come out about Kim Jong-un and his health, as in the past, the reports were unjustified and some officials say that we should not be so quick to believe the intelligence reports this time either.
On Friday, Seoul’s spy agency briefed lawmakers in a closed-door meeting on a new ruling system that Kim seemed to have set up, in which he shares authority and responsibility with a few of his most trusted aides. But according to the National Intelligence Agency, this change doesn’t appear to be linked to any major health problem. The Korea Herald
