You would think that in our nation’s capital, constitutional principles like freedom of speech and expression would be universally extended to all.
But you’d be wrong. Because in Washington, D.C., like every other Democrat-run American city, only one party gets a voice. Conservatives need not apply, as their opinions will be given to them by the Left.
You may recall in recent weeks Mayor Democratic Mayor Muriel Bowser authorized the painting of “Black Lives Matter” on a street near the White House, changed the name to “Black Lives Matter Plaza,” and even allowed “Defund the Police” to be painted as well.
Mind you, this city does not belong to Bowser and it does not just belong to her party. It belongs to all Americans and should be representative of such.
However, it’s not.
Judicial Watch contacted the mayor’s office weeks ago with a request to paint a message of their own on a city street. And they have been summarily ignored.
So now they’re going to court, as SaraACarter.com reports:
Judicial Watch has filed a lawsuit against Washington D.C.’s Democratic Mayor Muriel Bowser for ignoring the group’s request to paint ‘Because No One Is Above The Law!’, the group’s motto, on a City street after she allowed ‘Black Lives Matter’ and ‘Defund the Police’ to be painted on a city block. …
Three weeks later, the Mayor hasn’t responded to their request prompting JW to take legal action. The group alleges in their lawsuit that the D.C. government ‘denied timely, equal access to Judicial Watch to paint its own expressive message and violated federal civil rights law.’
‘Mayor Bowser gave us the runaround rather than access, as the First Amendment requires, to a DC street to paint our timely message and motto: Because No One is Above the Law!’ stated Judicial Watch President Tom Fitton.
‘Our message is especially relevant today because it applies equally to law enforcement and public officials as well as to protesters, looters, and rioters.’
On Tuesday, the group sent a similar request to paint their motto in New York City after another Left-wing partisan hack mayor, Bill DeBlasio, authorized a “Black Lives Matter” ‘mural’ to be painted in front of Trump Tower because he’s a vindictive loser.
The group says it hasn’t heard back from him, either, meaning JW is probably already teeing up another lawsuit.
