Joy Behar, co-host of The View, called for a change to the Electoral College “as soon as possible,” citing concerns that President Trump “could pull off” a re-election victory in 2020.
Behar’s comments are a clear indication that, like many in the Joe Biden campaign itself, there is a sense of panic as the President makes a surge in key battleground states.
“I’m worried that Trump could pull this off,” the anti-Trump comedienne fretted. “We see the polls and we see Biden is leading … but the Russian interference is alive and kicking. Facebook is continuing to leave all the lies on the pages. The Postal Service is being interfered with.”
Ah, those damned Russians. Some at Facebook are actually doing their best to censor Conservatives. And the Postal Service hoax has already been debunked.
She did make one accurate statement, however. Trump could pull this off. And it’s precisely why the Electoral College is so important.

Change The Electoral College?
Behar, noting that Trump could win the 2020 election fair and square did what most liberals do when they can’t compete – called for a change in the rules.
“I think it’s ridiculous that a few states, a handful of states, determine my future. It’s ridiculous, so why bother voting in the rest of the country?” she whined. “They need to change the Electoral College as soon as possible.”
It’s the same cry we’ve all heard every time a Republican candidate understands how the system set forth by the Founding Fathers works, and the Democrat candidate does not.
We heard it after George W. Bush defeated Al Gore. And again when Hillary Clinton lost in epic fashion to Trump in 2016.
Hillary’s case was especially delightful, as her campaign admitted to ignoring swing states and trying to run up the popular vote.

And while Behar is upset that half-a-dozen or so swing states could make the difference in the election this year, the Electoral College was put in place to prevent large pockets of the population – New York and California, for example – from deciding elections for the entire country.
Democrats Want to Abolish the Electoral College
Several prominent Democrat names and faces have called for exactly that – abolishing the Electoral College and leaving the selection of President up to far-left coastal states rather than the heart of the country.
It isn’t just Behar.
Rep. Steve Cohen (D-TN) introduced a pair of constitutional amendments on his party’s first day in power in the House this past election cycle, one of which would abolish the Electoral College.

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY), the defacto House Speaker, blasted the Electoral College as a “scam” that has a “racial injustice breakdown” undermining the votes of people of color.

Two-time presidential loser Hillary Clinton told CNN in a 2017 interview said in reference to the Electoral College, “I think it needs to be eliminated … I’d like to see us move beyond it, yes.”
Perhaps most importantly, vice presidential nominee Kamala Harris has also expressed interest in doing away with the system.
“I’m open to the discussion,” Harris told Jimmy Kimmel. “I mean, there’s no question that the popular vote has been diminished in terms of making the final decision about who’s the president of the United States and we need to deal with that.”
If Democrats win back the White House in 2020 and regain control of the Senate or start selecting Supreme Court justices, there is little doubt they would push to abolish the Electoral College.
Meaning latte-sipping liberals in California and New York will be choosing who governs the rest of the country.
