INCREDIBLE Scene in Crime-Ridden LA: Looters Steal Amazon and UPS Packages From Trains [VIDEO]

By Patty McMurray at 100 Percent FED Up –

George Soros funded LA County DA Gascón has made a mockery of the justice system in Los Angeles County.

Smash and grabs in high-end stores are commonplace. Shoplifters who can steal up to $950 worth of merchandise before their crimes are considered a felony in Los Angeles County, are causing drug stores and pharmacies to close their doors, leaving residents with the challenge of finding new ways to get their medications.

Instead of addressing the soft-on-crime radical policies of Soros-funded Los Angeles County DA George Gascon, California’s equally radical Democrat Governor Gavin Newsom believes overloading the already overloaded court system and asking law enforcement officers to arrest the shoplifters and charge them with misdemeanors is the solution.

Newsom called the recent spate of mass thefts, and lack of prosecutions are “unacceptable.” “If people are breaking in, people stealing your property, they need to be arrested. Police need to arrest them. Prosecutors need to prosecute them. Judges need to hold people accountable for breaking the law,” Newsom said. “These are not victimless crimes, and I have no empathy for these criminal elements.” Even thefts under $950 should be prosecuted as misdemeanors or “stacked” into felony complaints if there are repeat offenses, he said, contending some officials “choose” not to do so. “I want to see local efforts. I want to see them stepped up,” said Newsom, formerly San Francisco’s mayor. “Look at the laws. You have the ability. Stack repeat offenders and move to prosecute.”

As criminals in LA County become more emboldened, they’ve found a new way to steal on a mass scale—by looting train cars on the Union Pacific tracks in downtown Los Angeles.

Thousands of opened and destroyed packages are seen scattered along the tracks of a Los Angeles railway on Thursday, said to be left by thieves who are now looting cargo containers.

A video taken by photojournalist John Schreiber at CBS 2 / KCAL 9 shows Amazon and UPS boxes strewn across the Union Pacific railroad tracks in Lincoln Heights in downtown Los Angeles.

Homes and businesses along the West Coast waiting for deliveries from Amazon or UPS won’t be receiving them, as thieves in LA have picked through boxes and envelopes like vultures that pick over a carcass by the side of the road.

COVID tests, empty vials, and boxes with life-saving epi-pens lay scattered around on the train tracks.

Rapid tests for COVID that are in short supply were found scattered around the tracks amongst the shredded boxes and envelopes.

John Schreiber’s video of the looted boxes and packages along the train tracks is stunning. Union Pacific Police can be seen chasing looters away in the video below. Has crime in the Democrat-led Los Angeles County gotten so bad and the punishment for criminals so light that police who’ve been demonized by the Left and the leftist media are giving up?

Daily Mail reports – This is not the first instance where cargo containers have been targeted this year.

Cargo burglaries were also reported in November during the supply chain crisis period as trains en route to Los Angeles ports were being looted.

The cargo trains had traveled through an area of tracks lined with homeless encampments where thieves were reportedly cutting through the carts with bolt cutters.

Officials with the city then moved the shipping containers into vacant lots to prevent further thefts as a result.

In addition to thefts and smash and grab rings terrorizing local merchants, violent crime is also up. According to the LA County Sheriff’s Department, homicide is up 186%.
