OPINION| Mark Sidney| David Plouffe knows a thing or two about getting a President elected.
According to Wikipedia:
David Plouffe ‘is an American political strategist best known as the campaign manager for Barack Obama‘s successful 2008 presidential campaign. A long-time Democratic Party campaign consultant, he was a partner at the party-aligned campaign consulting firm AKPD Message and Media, which he joined in 2000.
Plouffe was an outside senior advisor to Obama since the president’s first day in office and was then appointed as a Senior Advisor to the President (inside the White House) in 2011 following the resignation of David Axelrod, who went on to start Obama’s reelection campaign. In September 2014, he became the Senior Vice President of Policy and Strategy for Uber.’
David Plouffe is predicting that the current …. situation … in the country will not hurt Trump’s turnout for the election in November, however, re predicts that Joe Biden will be at a distinct disadvantage because of the … situation.
FOX News reports:
The coronavirus pandemic and struggling economy will not deter President Trump’s supporters from turning out in November, which makes the incumbent “very dangerous” to Democratic front-runner Joe Biden, former Obama adviser David Plouffe told the “Fox News Rundown” podcast Thursday.
“You look at the economic situation and say, ‘How can an incumbent win in that?’ But, you know, no one’s blaming Trump for the damage,” Plouffe explained. ” … I think if you can lay his crisis response at his feet and connect that to the economy, I do think that’s some headwind he’s got to run into.”
“But,” Plouffe continued, “almost no matter what happens, [the question is] can Donald Trump win Wisconsin? Can he win Michigan? Can he win Pennsylvania? Can he win Florida?’ Sure, because his base is so solid. And I think he’s going to turn out voters almost at a historical level on his behalf, so that makes him very dangerous if you’re Joe Biden.”
As normal campaigning has ground to a halt due to the pandemic, Biden has been virtually out of the spotlight, which Plouffe said puts him at a disadvantage as President Trump remains on the front lines of the crisis.
“There’s nothing he [Biden] can do about it. He’s not in office. He’s not a governor. He’s not the president. And truthfully, [New York Govornor] Andrew Cuomo, [California Govornor] Gavin Newsom … Donald Trump, citizens want to hear from those folks because they’re the folks making decisions.”
Rush Limbaugh weighed in on David’s comments:
This is excellent. This is Donald Trump showing he can handle any number of crises simultaneously and that the United States is not gonna be crippled or shut down or taken advantage of. That’s what he was saying.
Living in Florida, I must say, it seems that Trump has a lot more support than he has haters. One thing is for certain, all trust in the media has been lost and the more the rail against Trump, the more the average blue color American supports President Trump.
Call me crazy, but I doubt Biden will be the nominee by the time the Democratic National Convention, which was just delayed. It seems to me that the media is setting up Governor Cuomo to take Biden’s place, but hey, that’s just like, my opinion, man.
