Justice Dept. Smacks Down Lawsuit Filed By Fired FBI Deputy Director McCabe: ‘Crimes Don’t Clock Out At 5pm’

This would be a joke if it weren’t linked to an attempt to depose a duly elected president…

(TNS) Lost in the busy 24-7 news cycle of impeachment, constant Trump hate, and how Republicans are ruining the planet is the story involving a wrongful termination lawsuit filed by fired FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe.

You may recall that McCabe of “Spygate” fame was terminated by then-Attorney General Jeff Sessions in March 2018 for lying to federal investigators — the same charge former National Security Adviser Michael Flynn copped to rather than see his life ruined, which happened anyway.

 

Key: As we reported, McCabe was fired by Sessions before his official retirement date, meaning he is not eligible to receive full retirement benefits at taxpayers’ expense:

Acting on the recommendation of the Justice Department’s internal watchdog, Attorney General Jeff Sessions officially fired FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe on Friday, ahead of his official retirement date. …

 

Inspector General Michael Horowitz recommended last week that McCabe be fired for lying to investigators reviewing the probe into Hillary Clinton’s mishandling of classified emails.

The firing led to a response from President Donald Trump, the target of Spygate.

Speaking of Flynn, some believe that McCabe changed FBI 302s — interview notes — in order to entrap the retired three-star Army general.

In any event, McCabe sued the Justice Department for wrongful termination in August:

McCabe, in his lawsuit, argues that his termination was the result of improper political meddling by POTUS Donald Trump, NPR reported. …

 

“It was Trump’s unconstitutional plan and scheme to discredit and remove DOJ and FBI employees who were deemed to be his partisan opponents because they were not politically loyal to him,” says the suit. …

In explaining McCabe’s firing the following month, the Justice Department cited a “lack of candor” in the former deputy director’s interviews with investigators who were probing a 2016 media leak in the waning weeks of the presidential campaign related to a massive political scandal known popularly as “Spygate.”

 

Justice Department Inspector General Michael Horowitz has said the leak about investigations into 2016 Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton and the Clinton Foundation were done to advance McCabe’s “personal interests” at the expense of the department’s leadership.

The Justice Department has now gotten around to responding to McCabe’s ridiculous attempt to clear his name. In a lengthy thread, Undercover Huber, a Twitter account specializing in revealing political insider info, laid out the DoJ’s blistering response.

Regarding that allegation McCabe was schemed against and fired by an angry president:

 

 

 

You never know what some federal judge may think about a case like this, given McCabe’s long service to the country. But on its face, this lawsuit seems petty, inappropriate, and even comical. And again, McCabe ought to count his blessings that no one at DoJ charged him for the same crime Michael Flynn was charged with and now faces prison time over.
