Democrats & More Indicted As Feds Announce Indictments Of Officials For Corruption, Wire Fraud, Money Laundering & Conspiracy After Puerto Rican Slush Fund Exposed

Opinion| ICYMI| It looks like President Trump was right, again.  Remember when he came under attack by the Democrats and their mainstream media propagandists for “shortchanging” Puerto Rico after it was devastated by Hurricane Maria in 2017?

Trump knew that the Puerto Rican government had a long history of corruption when it came to abusing the generosity of U.S. taxpayers.

In December of 2015 the FBI announced the indictments of ten Puerto Rico businessman and government officials:

The 25-count indictment includes charges of conspiracy to commit federal programs bribery and honest services wire fraud, wire fraud, federal program bribery, extortion through fear of economic harm, money laundering, false declarations before a grand jury and obstruction of justice, announced U.S. Attorney Rosa Emilia Rodríguez-Vélez of the District of Puerto Rico.

The alignment between America’s Democratic Party and the allocation of U.S. taxpayers’ monies to Puerto Rico’s corrupt Democrat leadership is hard to ignore.

Despite overwhelming evidence that U.S. taxpayers’ monies were being criminally misused, Democrats continued to defend massive allocation of resources to their corrupt partners in Puerto Rico.

After Hurricane Maria destroyed much of the infrastructure of Puerto Rico, Democrats seized the opportunity to increase funding to their island nation slush fund and once again officials seized the opportunity to indulge themselves with that funding.

When President Trump witnessed the infusion of U.S. taxpayers’ money being abused by entrenched corrupt politicians he called attention to it.  In return the U.S. propaganda media rained criticism on him for doing so.

But facts are stubborn things to dispute and Trump made his point.

….Alabama, Iowa, Nebraska, Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina and others unless much more money is given to Puerto Rico. The Dems don’t want farmers to get any help. Puerto Rico should be very happy and the Dems should stop blocking much needed Disaster Relief!

— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) May 6, 2019

Two years after Hurricane Maria had passed, Democrats blocked a relief bill for U.S. farmers.  They were attempting to extort even more taxpayer funding to be directed to their corrupt allies in Puerto Rico.

We noted at that time:

When “monster” hurricanes hit Florida and Texas, $51 Billion was allocated to both states, combined, for emergency relief.  The combined populations of those two states exceeds 49 million people.

In comparison, Puerto Rico with a population of 3.7 million persons received $91 Billion.  That’s nearly 24 times more per person allocated to a country that we just saved from bankruptcy.

Once Democrats seized control of the House they traveled to Puerto Rico to party with the lobbyists who had helped return them to power and who were now lining up to present their list of paybacks:

In hindsight, the responses to Grisham’s tweet have become cringeworthy now that the facts  are known.

And now the Washington Post, that was one of those media propagandist outlets that stridently attacked President Trump for not continuing to fund the corruption island slush fund, is reporting on the indictments of six additional people including two government officials.

Among those indicted were Julia Keleher who served as Puerto Rico’s education secretary until April and Ángela Ávila-Marrero, who was the executive director of the Puerto Rico Health Insurance Administration until late June.

They are variously charged with wire fraud, money laundering and conspiracy, according to the 32-count indictment.

WASHINGTON – […] The federal indictment says the former officials illegally directed federal funding to politically connected contractors. The arrests come about a month after Congress approved a controversial disaster aid bill that earmarked additional funding for Puerto Rico’s recovery from Hurricane Maria in 2017, which were tied up in part because President Trump called Puerto Rico’s officials “incompetent or corrupt.”

Rep. Raúl M. Grijalva (D-Ariz.), chair of the Natural Resource Committee that oversees Puerto Rico, called on [Governor of Puerto Rico Ricardo] Rosselló to resign amid the ongoing federal investigation.

The arrests come as senior White House officials are searching for new ways to limit the amount of federal aid going to help Puerto Rico, and the island’s allies fear the arrests will give Trump greater justification for curtailing additional aid to the island.

Oh, dear.  No matter how the WaPo spins this they can’t hide the fact that President Trump has closed down another Democrat slush fund.

The FBI isn’t done investigating corruption in Puerto Rico’s government. They recently made an appeal to the public to contact them with any information they might have:

SAN JUAN, PR—The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) is investigating patterns of conduct concerning government corruption and fraud with respect to the contracting of goods, services, and personnel. These investigations began with information provided by individuals who observed this conduct, and recent history has shown that information provided by the public can and does greatly increase the chances of a successful prosecution of those responsible. We therefore ask the public and private sectors and the community for any additional evidence of which they are aware, based on the indicators described below. The FBI is taking these measures to protect the public, which is entitled to the honest services of their officials.

And you want to know why Democrats (and corrupt Republicans) hate Trump. Silly question.
