Dem mayor in Illinois now has power to ban gun, ammo, liquor, sales and turn off utilities because ‘muh coronavirus’
This will not turn out good at all…

(TNS) On Friday, President Donald Trump declared a national emergency to free up funds he says we need to help contain and beat back the Wuhan coronavirus (COVID-19).
We noted in a piece ahead of the president’s declaration that we believed Democrats and their media propagandists were simply baiting the president into making the declaration, so they could later revive their oft-state claim that he’s a “tyrant” when he begins using the powers granted to him by the declaration.
Sure enough, Senate Minority Leader Charles Schumer (D-N.Y.) gave the strategy away when he mentioned that very thing in comments on the Senate floor following the president’s announcement.
“As other steps are considered, the president must not overstep his authority or indulge his autocratic tendencies for purposes not truly related to this public health crisis,” Schumer said, NBC News reported.
Mind you, just three days ago Schumer and Democrats were ‘urging‘ the president to make the declaration; forgive us for becoming suspicious whenever Democrats give Trump ‘advice.’
In any event, as we have pointed out a number of times, the Democrat Party — not the GOP and certainly not President Trump whose every executive order, practically, is challenged in court — is the real party of tyranny.
Case in point, on a local level: A Democrat mayor in Illinois has just granted herself extraordinary powers including authority to end gun and alcohol sales, confiscate private property, and ban the sale of gasoline.
And all due to the ‘coronavirus emergency.’
As the Washington Examiner reported:
The mayor of Champaign, Illinois, gave herself the power to ban the sale of guns and alcohol after declaring a citywide emergency to address the coronavirus.
Mayor Deborah Frank Feinen signed the executive order on Thursday declaring a state of emergency for the city. That executive order, which is in line with municipal code, comes with extraordinary powers for the mayor to enact over a short period of time as the city combats the spread of the coronavirus.
Among the powers Feinen gained after signing the executive order was the power to ban the sale of guns, ammunition, alcohol, and gasoline. Feinen could also cut off access to individuals’ gas, water, or electricity. The city also has the ability to “take possession of private property” or order the temporary closing of all bars or liquor stores.
What the heck, right? If you’re going to go tyrannical, go big or stay home.
“The executive order allows the city to be flexible to properly respond to the emergency needs of our community. None of the options will necessarily be implemented but are available in order to protect the welfare and safety of our community if needed,” Jeff Hamilton, the city’s manager, told WAND.
Uh-huh. ‘Flexible.’ Got it.
Because you can’t deal with a couple of viral cases without banning gun sales and cutting off someone’s utilities.
We kind of hope, in a warped way, that this bozo mayor orders a couple local bars to close or cuts off the sale of gasoline for a couple days or so. We’d love to see how all of that works out for her.
If you think there is pandemonium now over ‘coronavirus,’ wait until some goofball authoritarian with a “D” behind her name starts shutting off people’s power or telling them they can’t buy a six-pack.
