Brit Hume took to Twitter to call out Dr. Anthony Fauci for suddenly claiming that prolonged stay-at-home orders could cause “irreparable damage.”
Hume tweeted: “I watched his WH COVID-19 briefings almost without exception and don’t recall him acknowledging this once. Now he tells us.”
Dr. Fauci told CNBC today during an interview with Meg Tirrell on the ‘Halftime Report’ that stay-at-home orders could cause “irreparable damage.”
“I don’t want people to think that any of us feel that staying locked down for a prolonged period of time is the way to go.”
“But now is the time, depending upon where you are and what your situation is, to begin to seriously look at reopening the economy, reopening the country to try to get back to some degree of normal.”

Dr. Fauci was recently criticized by Republicans for making comments appearing to advocate for keeping some businesses closed longer.
Last week, Dr. Fauci warned against rushing to reopen businesses, and then today he says prolonged lockdowns could cause “irreparable damage.”
President Trump announced this week that there will not be another lockdown if the coronavirus comes back.
He must realize now that we shut the country down with advice from people like Dr. Fauci who was far off on his estimates.
