BREAKING: Multiple Injuries & One Missing After Massive Explosion In Texas

TEXAS – Three people were severely burned and one person is missing after an explosion at an oil rig in Burleson County.

Fox 7 reports that according to an official with the Texas Department of Public Safety, a call came in around 3:30 p.m. about an explosion at Chesapeake Energy off of CR 127 near FM 50. The official has reported the explosion happened on a “workover rig” and is being reported as a “workover well blowout.”

 

“An oil well blow out has injured multiple people south of Caldwell on County Road 127.
There is still an active fire burning. Firefighters from our agency and multiple agencies are responding to the situation.
Please keep everyone involved as well as the first responders who are still on scene in your prayers”

KXXV reports that Caldwell Fire says there is still an active fire burning. Firefighters from multiple agencies are responding to the situation.

College Station Fire Department says they were called by the Caldwell Fire to provide assistance. College Station FD says they are sending a special operation hazmat team along with a fire truck, firefighters, and hazmat teams in order support firefighters and hazmat workers.

Three medical helicopters are also en route to the area.

The fire is still burning at this time and the company is determining whether to put the fire out or allow it to burn out.

A few homes in the area have been evacuated.
