EL PASO, Texas — El Paso police Detectives have arrested 24 –year old Marvin Rex Lake yesterday in connection with the murder of 1–year old Ahren DeHart.
According to police, in the early morning hours of Tuesday, April 13th, officers were called after Ahren was transported to a hospital with multiple injuries, including a skull fracture.
Investigators learned Ahren, as well as another infant and toddler, had been left in the care of Lake while the children’s mothers went to work. Just before midnight on the 12th, the mothers returned from work and found Ahren unresponsive.
Ahren was admitted into the hospital in critical condition and was soon placed on life-support, as his injuries were described by doctors as “acute” and “non-accidental.”
Ahren succumbed to his injuries on Friday the 16th.
Lake was taken into custody yesterday and booked into the El Paso County Detention Facility for Capital Murder. He was issued no bond and remains incarcerated.
Crime Against Children continues their investigation into the condition of the other infant and toddler who were also found to have injuries.
